The Department of Student Success and Retention promotes student degree completion by taking down barriers to persistence and creating experiences that support students in discovering community, meaning, and purpose.
Meet the Staff:
Dr. Kristin Woods
Director, Student Success and Retention
Kristin coordinates retention and student success initiatives, including peer mentoring, the MAP-Works early intervention program, and success coaching for first-year students. She collaborates with faculty members on the implementation of First-Year Only (FYO) course communities, provides individual assistance to at-risk students, and co-chairs at the university's Transfer Council. Kristin also works with campus partners to facilitate the Jump Start extended orientation program, Transfer Welcome events, and Family Weekend.
Bailey is responsible for all aspects of the University's incoming student orientation programs. She also coordinates UNI-Now the extended orientation for all incoming students and Jump Start, an orientation program for underrepresented students at UNI.
Student Success Coordinator
Jade collaborates with campus partners on several student success initiatives, including peer mentoring, the early intervention survey for first-year students, and the Summer Bridge program. She also provides individual support to at-risk students and assists with other programs with the department.
