Orientation Portal

The Orientation Portal will go live for students starting Spring 2025 on November 1, 2024!

The Orientation Portal is a one stop shop for students to prepare for their orientation session by completing tasks before they attend their orientation session, finalize their Admissions Record, find information for their orientation day and complete tasks after their orientation session to prepare for their first semester at UNI.

This is also where students attending their orientation session online will find their Zoom links on the day of their orientation session.

Accessing the Orientation Portal

It is critical that students access their Orientation Portal and complete tasks at least 10 days before their orientation session. Students will log into their orientation portal using their UNI CatID. If a student does not remember their CatID information they can call the Office of Admissions during business hours (Monday - Friday from 8AM to 4:30PM CST) to have it reset.

Before Orientation Tasks

Students will inform UNI about important information by completing their Before Orientation Tasks at least 10 days prior to their orientation session. These tasks include:

  • Officially declaring their program(s) of study
  • Letting us know what college credits and degree(s) they are transferring in
  • Informing their advisor what their future career plans are
  • Uploading their UNI ID card photo
  • Taking the ALEKS math placement exam if needed

Complete Admissions Record

In this section students will find a list of items still needed to complete their Admissions Record. Items that may be needed include:

  • Final, official high school transcript
  • Final, official college transcript(s)
  • ACT or SAT scores

Even if college credits appear on a student's high school transcript, we will need a final, official transcript from the college awarding the credit. To be considered final, official transcripts must be sent directly from the school awarding credit to UNI (admissions@uni.edu) and have final grades posted on them. Additionally, high school transcripts and any schools students have a degree from, such as an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science, must also list a graduation date.

Orientation Day Schedule

Students will find an overview of information covered during their orientation day via their orientation portal.

Virtual Orientation: On the student's orientation day, their schedule and Zoom links will populate under the "Orientation Day Information" tab in their orientation portal. Students will join live Zoom sessions at specific times. All Zoom sessions are mandatory to meet the orientation requirement.

After Orientation Tasks

Students will complete their After Orientation Tasks within 2 weeks after their orientation session.

These tasks include:

  • Taking the Post Orientation Survey
  • Uploading health insurance information
  • Taking the University Policy Quiz
  • Ordering their parking permit
  • Updating personal information within their MyUNIverse
