- When is transfer orientation for students starting Fall 2025? What will happen during orientation?
For students starting Fall 2025, transfer orientation is a mandatory program offered in April, June and July. As part of your orientation, you will work with academic advisors, current students and professional staff members to get ready for your transition to UNI. Your program will include:
- One-to-one academic advising meetings where you’ll register for classes
- Meeting your student orientation leader, who will answer questions as you prepare for your transition to UNI
- Connecting with other new transfer students
- Financial aid and billing information

For students starting Spring 2026, transfer orientation is a mandatory program offered in December. As part of your orientation, you will work with academic advisors, current students and professional staff members to get ready for your transition to the UNI. Your program will include:
- One-to-one academic advising meetings where you’ll register for classes
- Meeting your student orientation leader, who will answer questions as you prepare for your transition to UNI
- Connecting with other new transfer students
- Financial aid and billing information
- I plan to take classes starting Summer 2025. When do I attend transfer orientation?
For students starting Summer 2025, transfer orientation is a mandatory program offered in April. As part of your orientation, you will work with academic advisors, current students and professional staff members to get ready for your transition to the UNI. Your program will include:

- Meeting your student orientation leader, who will answer questions as you prepare for your transition to UNI

- Do I have to attend orientation?
Yes! Orientation is mandatory for all new degree-seeking undergraduate students at UNI and is the avenue by which you will meet with academic advisors and register for classes. While you may have experience as a student at a different college or university, it is important that you learn about the academic programs and policies unique to the UNI.
- When will I know the orientation date?
As soon as you accept your offer of admission and sign up for orientation online, you will receive a confirmation of your orientation session. Contact us at orientation@uni.edu with any questions.
Orientation registration for students starting Summer or Fall terms opens February 15 and October 2025 for students starting Spring term.
Available orientation dates are based on major, so they may differ from student to student.
- What is the schedule for my orientation day? How long will the program last?
We ask that you are available for the full time of the session you registered for, either 8:00 AM - 12:30 PM CST or 12:00 to 4:30 PM CST for the Virtual sessions or 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM CST for the On-campus session. Your schedule will be available on your online orientation portal 3 days before your orientation session.
- How do I register for classes?
New transfer students will register for classes during orientation with an academic advisor. Your UNI academic advisor will assist you with selecting courses that help keep you on track to complete your degree at UNI.
- When do I send my final transcript to UNI?
In order to best assist you at your orientation session it is important to have your most recent, up to date transcript from all institutions you've attended. If you are currently taking courses at another institution, please send an unofficial transcript to the Office of Admissions to update your account: admissions@uni.edu.
Once we receive your final, official high school transcript we are able to determine if you have satisfied the UNI foreign language requirement. An emailed high school transcript, from your high school will work to review this requirement. Email admissions@uni.edu.
- How do I sign up for housing?
To complete a housing contract, please visit the housing contract portal.

- Is it possible to see my residence hall room virtually?
Yes! Housing & Dining has provided a number of photos, including a 360 view of student rooms. This is the most common room layout for each hall. Additionally, by logging in to your housing portal contract, you can see the dimensions of your exact room.

- How do I access my UNI email account?
You will gain access to your UNI email account during your orientation session. We will even walk you though how to access your email during your orientation session.
After your orientation session you can access your UNI email account powered by Google at email.uni.edu or by downloading the Google Mail app.
- How do I order my textbooks?
We will walk you though how to find what textbooks you need and how to order them though the UNI Bookstore during your orientation session.
If you have already attended your orientation session you can find your book list by vising the UNI Bookstore website or on your Student Center in MyUNIverse.
- What is eLearning (Blackboard)? How do I use it?
eLearning is UNI's online learning platform. This is where you will submit many of your assignments and track your grades throughout the semester. While each instructor uses eLearning in a slightly different way, the best place to start is under the Start Here or Course Content sections.

- What is MyUniverse? What do I use it for?
MyUNIverse is your hub for all things UNI. This is where you can:
- find your Student Center
- pay your U-Bill
- set up third party accounts
- complete your timecard for on campus jobs
