Welcome Week starts the first day of classes on Monday August 26th, 2019 and advertises events hosted on campus and around the community by campus affiliated groups. Events submitted for dates between August 26th - September 6th are displayed below as optional Welcome Week Events.

Do not miss out on Scheels' UNI Panthers Tailgate Party! This tailgate is totally free to attend and open to the public, the fun goes down on Thursday, August 22nd from 5-7 in the Scheels' parking lot. Join Cedar Falls Mayor, Jim Brown, and celebrate entrepreneurialism in Cedar Falls by bicycle! Cyclers will begin at the Cedar Falls Farmer's Market on West 3rd Street and ride to Runners Flat, Talk to Me Technologies, and Hansen's Dairy and Gasoline. The ride will end at Hansen's with the Kubo food truck and other vendors.

Rainbow Reception, Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center, 5-7 pm

 Rainbow Reception is the annual welcome back celebration of queer and trans life at UNI, taking place this year at the Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, August 28 from 5-7 PM. 
    
   It's a party! You are welcome to come and go as you please, though a short program will take place partway through the event to introduce some of the key leaders on our campus. Organizations from on and off-campus will be present to share their resources. Staff and faculty will be present to greet students and share their advice. Great food (including vegan and gluten-free options) will be available as appetizers. There will also be a photo booth so you can kick off the year with a pride-themed photo. 
    
   Anyone who identifies within the LGBTQ+ community or wishes to celebrate with our community is welcome to attend. We especially encourage new students to attend to learn about resources and meet peers. UNI Men's Club Soccer Tryouts, Location TBD, 5:30-7:30 pm 

Tryout to be a member of the 2019 - 2020 men's club soccer team! There will be an evaluation of technical and tactical play, as well as a testing of your soccer IQ and a possible fitness evaluation. You can expect to participate in small sided games, large scale games, and drills based on position. Please bring water, shin guards, cleats, and your UNI ID, as these items will not be provided for you. Attendance is required Thursday night, with optional tryouts on Friday and Saturday. Threehouse will be holding its annual block party September 8th from 5 - 7 pm! The entire block of 25th st will be closed down between College St and Olive St for the party. There will be a live band, food, and games. All are welcome to come enjoy FREE food and celebrate the new school year!
