IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING UNI NOW! 2020:
With fall 2020 classes beginning on August 17, UNI Now! programming will occur a week earlier than originally planned. We are working to create engaging sessions that offer opportunities to connect with others and become familiar with campus, while keeping the health and safety of our students at the top of mind. A tentative schedule is provided below. Please be aware that this schedule could change, but we will update it accordingly.
Friday, August 14
UNI Now! Kickoff Picnic / Check-In - Rotations Begin at 5:30pm
Check-in to UNI Now!, pick up your new student t-shirt, grab delicious food courtesy of UNI Catering, meet the Cat Crew, and connect with other new students -- at a distance, of course!
Transfer Social During Kickoff Picnic - 6:00pm
Meet other transfer students at the Campanile during the picnic!
Zoom BINGO - 9:00pm
Log in to Zoom to play virtual BINGO with other new students and Cat Crew. You'll have the chance to win a gift card to the UNI Bookstore!
Saturday, August 15
Fitness Class in the WRC - 9:00am
It's time to HIIT the gym with this total Tabata class where you will work out with friends in your own space. Instructors will lead you in bodyweight exercise, some equipment in timed segments to push you or get you started in your fall fitness goals. Find out more about the WRS fitness offerings waiting for you in the fall! Meet in the Wellness Recreation Center North Gym, bring a towel and wear a mask. You can be safe, get a great workout, and find motivation with other UNI Panthers! See you there!
Virtual Lunch with Cat Crew - 12:00pm
Join your Cat Crew Leader for a virtual lunch where you'll have the opportunity to ask questions, watch UNI Now! videos, and get to know other new students.
College Connections (Virtual) - 1:00pm
Hear from faculty and advisors in your college about what it's like to be a [fill in the blank] major at UNI. There will be separate Zoom links for each college: College of Business, College of Education, College of Social & Behavioral Sciences, College of Humanities, Arts, & Sciences, and Exploratory.
UNIty Matters (Virtual) - 2:00pm
Your Panther Print session is presented by Keyah Levy, Associate Director of Multicultural Education and Gender & Sexuality Services. This session will focus on diversity, inclusion and social justice. You will become familiar with a few terms and reflect on how you can create a meaningful Panther Print.
Your Learning Commons (Virtual) - 3:00pm
Learn about all the awesome things that are available at the Rod Library's Learning Commons. You'll find out about all the great things you can check-out, how to print, and the most important of all is the one-on-one research services you can get from your faculty liaison librarian.
Blackboard / eLearning (Virtual) - 3:30pm
At UNI, your education doesn't just occur in the classroom. Your instructors will also use online learning tools to help you manage your learning outside of the classroom. The most common tool used at UNI is Blackboard Learn. This is where your instructors may post assignments, grades, announcements, etc. Attending this virtual session during UNI Now! will get you acclimated to Blackboard Learn before the first day of class and set you up for academic success!
BUILDING Your Future: One Step At A Time (Building Scavenger Hunt) - 6:00pm to 9:00pm
Before classes begin, find your way to academic buildings, departments, and administrative offices. Check-in to at least 10 of the 20 locations for a chance to win some exciting prizes! Added bonus: you'll become familiar with campus buildings and know exactly where your classes are located come the first day of class!
Sunday, August 16
Virtual Extended Hours for Campus Offices - 12:00pm to 4:00pm
Login to Zoom anytime between noon and 4:00pm to ask last-minute questions/take care of last-minute business. There will be representatives from multiple campus offices including Financial Aid, Admissions, Academic Advising, Career Services, and more.
Paddle on the Pond - 2:00pm to 6:00pm
Looking to get away? Join UNI Outdoors on the North Pond for "Paddle on the Pond." Canoes, kayaks and paddle boards will be available for you to enjoy while exploring the North Pond. You can also enjoy a quiet hike through the north pond and west trails. You might just get lucky and see one of our many residents like beavers, deer, and blue herons. Enter the North Pond area in the middle of the North WRC parking lot. Look for a van and canoe trailer and have a SPLASH!
Transfer 101 (Virtual) - 3:30pm
Not new to college, but new to UNI! Transfer 101 is a way to get connected at UNI & meet other transfers!
Please note that you will be required to wear a mask and participate in social distancing at any event that occurs in-person.
